I grew up next door to John Carroll University.
I mean, Murphy Dorm was literally across the street and visible from my bedroom window!
In high school, I used to hang out at the University's radio station.
Back then, it was called WUJC and was located in the clock tower.
You literally had to climb a ladder bolted onto the wall at the top of a stairwell in order to get up to the station!
(How did they get the equipment up there?)
It infected me because it was that magical combination of music, lots of records, and equipment.
Then I won 15 minutes as a guest DJ, only I didn't want to sit at the guest microphone, I wanted to operate everything.
After five minutes of training on how to operate the sound board, I prerecorded my first 15 minutes of fame.
(And I've been stealing everyone else's 15 minutes ever since!)
